Locations: Inside Huntsman Cancer Institute. Ambience: Great view of the city and surrounding mountains. Almost like a date spot but it's actually a hospital cafeteria/restaurant. Entrees: Chef's Special breaded pork chop with mashed potatoes and string beans - 5 stars Chile Verde pork plate - 4 stars Of Note: They have guest restaurants sell their food there. Oh Mai was selling their bahn mi sandwiches. How awesome is that!

There aren't a lot of good food options on the U of U campus and the Point is probably the best. The prices are reasonable and the cafeteria provides one of the best views of the whole city. I like to order the $5 special (last week, baked macaroni and ground beef casserole). They also offer a burrito special or a fancier $8 special (8 oz tuna steak with side of veggies and baked potato). Food is fresh and carefully prepared. Downside: getting through the line takes quite a bit of time. Sometimes the line is out the door so not a great option if you're in a hurry.

Rating based on restaurants of similar menus and price points. Judged against traditional hospital cafeterias rating would be definitely higher. Besides sandwiches and salads it has a hot dish or two of the day and a few Mexican items. Most interesting concept is to have a guest cafe of the day..today (Tuesday)was Oh Mai and my time was limited enough I couldn't join the line which appeared to be knowledgable frequent customers. Other days I noticed were Roula and Himalayan Kitchen .... so solid independent purveyors. My occasional visits have suggested this, while not stellar, is decent food and a real alternative for University hospital visitors. You can get to this undercover via bridges /tunnels from main medical center. Huntsman building is attractive and the view is outstanding.

This is a review for The Point's blueberry muffins. They are amazing. Pair with coffee or grapefruit juice. All their food is good, but the guest restaurants are a little overpriced, and the guest restaurant food isn't prepared to order. The line is more of a crowd, because there are offerings on both sides of both paths to the register, so be prepared to throw some elbows at lunch time. The view, of course, is unparalleled.

decent food at a decent price. good for special occasions, because of the view. i had the ribs, pasta salad, and roasted tomatoes. the ribs and pasta salad were like best friends. really tasty together.

On the top floor of the Huntsman Cancer Institute, it might seem weird to have a nice meal next to a "hospital", but this place is gorgeous. I work at the U, and when we feel fancy and have a moment to spare, we head up to the Point and have a nice meal while overlooking the entirety of the Salt Lake City valley. They serve breakfast (french toast with fruit!) and lunch, and are open at night for events. The food is the best that you'll get at the hospital and man, you just can't beat that view. During the daytime, it's cafeteria style with one side of the restaurant being prepared hot foods and the other side making salads/sandwiches/wraps to order. I can't say anything as to what the special events food is like, as I have yet to get invited to a wedding there, but given the quality of the food during the daytime, I have high hopes!
